Youths oppress my people, women rule over them. My people, your guides lead you astray; they turn you from the path.

Today’s Devotional

In Isaiah 3:12, the prophet Isaiah shares a warning from God to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. This passage highlights the consequences of disobedience and rebellion against God. The society of Judah and Jerusalem had become so corrupt and chaotic that inexperienced youths and women, who were not usually in positions of leadership at the time, were ruling over the people. This situation was not ideal, as it led to further misguidance and confusion.

Isaiah’s warning is a reminder that when we stray from God’s ways, chaos and disorder often follow. The people’s guides, or leaders, were leading them astray, causing them to veer off the path that God intended for them. This verse serves as a reminder for us to be cautious in choosing our leaders and role models, as they can either lead us closer to God or further away.

Time to reflect

When considering the message in Isaiah 3:12, we should:

  • Reflect on the importance of following God’s ways and the potential consequences of disobedience and rebellion.
  • Be discerning in choosing our leaders and role models, ensuring that they align with God’s principles and values.
  • Pray for our leaders, asking God to grant them wisdom and guidance in their decision-making.
  • Evaluate our own influence on others, striving to be a positive and godly example for those around us.
  • Seek God’s guidance and direction for our lives, trusting that He will lead us on the right path.
