Today’s Devotional

In 1 John 2:1, the apostle John addresses his readers as “my dear children” and shares a powerful message about Jesus Christ’s role as our advocate. John’s purpose in writing is to encourage believers not to sin, but he acknowledges that sin is a reality in our lives. When we do sin, Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, serves as our advocate before the Father.

As our advocate, Jesus pleads our case and defends us. His sacrificial death on the cross has provided the atonement necessary for the forgiveness of our sins. Through Jesus, we can find forgiveness and restoration in our relationship with God. This verse serves as a reminder of the grace and love that God has for us, even when we fall short.

When we do fall short, remind us of the grace and love You have for us. May we embrace Your forgiveness and allow it to transform our hearts and lives. Help us to share the hope of Jesus’ advocacy with others, encouraging and supporting fellow believers on their journey of faith.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
