Today’s Devotional
In Matthew 7:7, Jesus encourages His followers to be persistent and active in their pursuit of God’s wisdom, guidance, and provision. He uses the verbs “ask,” “seek,” and “knock” to illustrate the different ways we can approach God in prayer and how we should remain persistent in our faith.
“Ask” implies that we should be open and honest with God, bringing our needs, desires, and concerns to Him in prayer. “Seek” suggests that we should actively look for God’s will and guidance in our lives, searching for His direction through Scripture, prayer, and wise counsel. “Knock” signifies that we should not give up in our pursuit of God’s presence and blessings, but instead, be persistent and patient as we wait for doors to open.
Jesus assures us that when we approach God in these ways, He will respond. The passage offers a promise that God is attentive to our prayers, and He will provide what we need according to His perfect will and timing.
