Today’s Devotional
In this verse, the author of Hebrews refers to God’s promise of rest and quotes Psalm 95:11, where God says that those who are disobedient and unfaithful will not enter His rest. This rest represents the spiritual rest and peace that comes from a deep relationship with God and the assurance of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The concept of God’s rest is closely related to the idea of faith and trust in God. Those who believe in Jesus and put their trust in Him are able to enter this rest, experiencing peace and assurance even in the midst of life’s challenges. On the other hand, those who are disobedient and lack faith in God’s promises will never enter this rest.
As believers, we are called to enter God’s rest by placing our faith in Jesus and trusting in His finished work on the cross. This rest is a gift from God that brings peace, assurance, and the knowledge that we are secure in His love and care.
Time to reflect
As you reflect on Hebrews 4:5 and the concept of entering God’s rest, consider the following questions:
- What does it mean to enter God’s rest, and how does it relate to your faith in Jesus and trust in His finished work on the cross?
- In what ways do you experience God’s rest in your daily life, and how does it impact your peace, assurance, and relationship with God?
- How can you encourage others to enter God’s rest through faith in Jesus and reliance on His promises?
Prayer Of The Day
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of rest that comes from a deep relationship with You and faith in Jesus Christ. Help us to enter Your rest by trusting in Your promises and relying on the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
May we experience Your peace and assurance in our daily lives, knowing that we are secure in Your love and care. Help us to encourage others to enter Your rest by sharing the good news of Jesus and demonstrating the peace and assurance that comes from a relationship with You.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
