Jesus’ Example of Service

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Today’s Devotional

In this verse, Jesus is teaching His disciples about the importance of humility and service. He uses Himself as the ultimate example of a servant leader, as He came to serve others rather than to be served. His greatest act of service was giving His life as a ransom for many, sacrificing Himself for the sins of humanity.

As followers of Christ, we are called to emulate His example of service and humility. We should be willing to put the needs of others before our own and to seek opportunities to serve those around us. By doing so, we not only show our love for God but also demonstrate His love to others.

Time to reflect

To apply the lessons from this verse, consider these points:

  • Reflect on Jesus’ example of service and sacrifice, and how it contrasts with the world’s view of leadership.
  • Pray for a heart of humility and a willingness to serve others, asking God to help you follow Jesus’ example.
  • Look for opportunities to serve in your community, church, or among your friends and family.

Prayer Of The Day

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect example of humility and service. Help us to follow in Your footsteps, putting the needs of others before our own and seeking to serve rather than be served. Give us the strength and wisdom to be servant leaders in our families, communities, and churches. May our lives be a testimony to Your love and grace. In Your name, we pray. Amen.

Strengthening Faith

To apply the lessons from this verse, take these action steps:

  1. Spend time reflecting on Jesus’ example of service and how you can apply it in your life.
  2. Pray for a heart of humility and ask God to help you recognize opportunities to serve others.
  3. Volunteer at a local charity, church, or community event, and practice putting others’ needs before your own.

Today Wisdom
