Today’s Devotional

Jesus made it clear in this passage that He did not come to do away with the Law or the Prophets, but rather to fulfill their purpose. He came to bring to completion what was promised and foreshadowed in the Old Testament, and to establish the new covenant between God and humanity. Through Jesus, we can see the true intent of the Law, which is to bring us closer to God and to guide us in living a righteous life.

As followers of Jesus, it is essential for us to understand that the Law still has value and relevance in our lives. It helps us to recognize our need for a Savior and points us to Jesus as the ultimate fulfillment of all that was written in the Law and the Prophets.

Time to reflect

Consider how this verse applies to your life:

  • How does Jesus’ fulfillment of the Law change your understanding of the Old Testament and its relevance to your faith?
  • What can you learn from the Law and the Prophets about God’s character, His expectations for humanity, and His plan for redemption?
  • How can you better integrate the teachings of both the Old and New Testaments in your personal spiritual growth and walk with God?

Prayer Of The Day

Father God, we thank You for sending Jesus to fulfill the Law and the Prophets, establishing a new covenant with us. Help us to appreciate the wisdom and guidance found in both the Old and New Testaments and to recognize their interconnectedness in revealing Your character and plan for our lives. Strengthen our faith and understanding as we study Your Word, and enable us to grow closer to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Strengthening Faith

  1. Spend time studying both the Old and New Testaments, seeking to understand how they complement each other and reveal God’s plan for humanity.
  2. Reflect on the teachings of the Law and the Prophets and how they point to Jesus and His redemptive work.
  3. Share your understanding of the interconnectedness of the Old and New Testaments with others, helping them to see the beauty and depth of God’s Word.

Today Wisdom

As we study God’s Word and grow in our understanding of Jesus as the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets, let us appreciate the richness and depth of the entire Bible. May our lives be transformed by the truth and wisdom found in both the Old and New Testaments, leading us into a deeper relationship with our Savior and an ever-growing love for God and His Word.
