Today’s Devotional
Matthew 28:16 marks the beginning of the Great Commission, where Jesus gives His final instructions to His disciples before ascending into heaven. The eleven disciples, now without Judas Iscariot, journey to the mountain in Galilee as Jesus had instructed. This verse sets the stage for Jesus’ call to make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them to obey His commandments.
The disciples’ obedience in going to the mountain demonstrates their trust in Jesus and their commitment to following His instructions. Their example serves as a reminder for us to be attentive to God’s guidance in our lives and to act in obedience, even when we may not fully understand the reason behind His instructions.
As followers of Christ, we are also called to participate in the Great Commission. Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations extends to each of us, inviting us to share the Good News of His salvation with others, both near and far.
