Today’s Devotional
In Matthew 4:4, Jesus quotes Deuteronomy 8:3 to remind us of the importance of relying on God’s Word for spiritual nourishment. This verse is part of Jesus’ response to the first temptation by Satan in the wilderness. When Satan tempts Jesus to turn stones into bread to satisfy His hunger, Jesus uses Scripture to counter the temptation and emphasize the need for spiritual sustenance.
As believers, we should follow Jesus’ example and prioritize our spiritual nourishment by seeking wisdom and guidance from the Word of God. Just as our bodies need physical food to survive and thrive, our souls require the life-giving truth found in Scripture. By immersing ourselves in God’s Word, we equip ourselves to face life’s challenges and grow in our faith.
