Today’s Devotional
Isaiah 9:6 is a prophetic passage pointing to the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ. Isaiah writes of a child who would be born and given to humanity, carrying the weight of the government upon His shoulders. This child is described with several titles, each reflecting different aspects of His divine nature and mission.
This prophecy of Jesus’ birth and His divine nature gives us hope and comfort, knowing that God had a plan for our salvation even hundreds of years before Jesus was born. In Jesus, we find a Wonderful Counselor, who offers us guidance and wisdom in every aspect of our lives. He is the Mighty God, with all power and authority, capable of transforming lives and performing miracles. Jesus is also the Everlasting Father, providing love, protection, and care for His children. Lastly, He is the Prince of Peace, bringing peace and reconciliation between God and humanity.
Time to reflect
As you meditate on Isaiah 9:6, consider the following questions:
- How have you experienced Jesus as your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace?
- In what areas of your life do you need His guidance, power, love, or peace right now?
- How can you share the hope and comfort found in this prophecy with others around you?
Prayer Of The Day
Lord Jesus, thank You for being our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We are grateful for the hope and comfort we find in knowing that You were promised long before Your birth, and that God had a plan for our salvation. We ask for Your guidance, power, love, and peace to fill our lives and help us navigate the challenges we face.
Grant us opportunities to share the hope found in Your promises with others, that they too may come to know You as their Savior and King. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
Strengthening Faith
- Reflect on the ways Jesus has been your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.
- Identify areas in your life where you need His guidance, power, love, or peace, and bring those needs to Him in prayer.
- Look for opportunities to share the hope found in Jesus with others, whether through personal conversations, inviting them to church, or simply being a compassionate listener.
