Today’s Devotional

John 11:1 introduces us to the story of Lazarus, a man from Bethany who becomes very sick. Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha, close friends of Jesus. This story reveals the depth of Jesus’ love for His friends and His power over death.

As the story unfolds, we learn that Jesus receives word of Lazarus’ illness but chooses to wait before going to him. When Jesus finally arrives in Bethany, Lazarus has been dead for four days. Despite the seemingly hopeless situation, Jesus demonstrates His divine power by raising Lazarus from the dead, restoring him to life and reuniting him with his sisters.

This miraculous event not only highlights Jesus’ authority over life and death but also serves as a foreshadowing of His own resurrection. It teaches us that Jesus has the power to bring hope and restoration, even in the most desperate situations. The story of Lazarus reminds us to trust in Jesus, knowing that He has the power to overcome all obstacles and bring new life.
